Murder of Firdaous in Antwerp: two suspects arrested in the Netherlands

The Belgian police have arrested a 31-year-old man from Amsterdam and a 24-year-old woman from Breda for their alleged involvement in the murder of Firdaous, the 11-year-old girl killed by a bullet in January 2023 at her parents’ home in Merksem, Antwerp.
According to Het Parool, the two suspects are named Nahésson C. and G. Z.. Since last year, they have been the subject of an investigation by the Belgian judicial police, who finally requested the collaboration of the Dutch authorities to carry out their arrest, according to a spokesperson for the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office. The two suspects were apprehended after searches were carried out on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning in residences in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Breda.
The man and the woman are accused of murder and three attempted murders. Belgium has already requested their extradition to the Netherlands. Within a week, the two defendants should be presented before the Belgian courts to answer for the acts they are accused of. In February, a 53-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man had been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of the young Moroccan girl. The man was released on Tuesday, but the woman was kept in custody. Her DNA was identified on one of the cartridges found near Firdaous’ home.
To recall, the girl was at the table with her father and two sisters in the garage of their home when it was sprayed with bullets. One of them hit the teenager, who died on the spot. The other family members were slightly injured. Firdaous’ family, and mainly her uncle, Othman El B., is well known in the Antwerp drug scene.
