Mummified Body of Elderly Moroccan Man Found in French Apartment After 5 Years

The body of a mummified Moroccan was found in his apartment, located in the Valdegour district of Nîmes, five years after his death. It was a bailiff, mandated after a few unpaid rents, who made this surprising discovery on January 30, 2020.
Mokrane H., a septuagenarian, lived in total isolation in his apartment. It took the visit of a bailiff for the body of this Moroccan to be discovered in a state of mummification.
One of his neighbors describes him as a man who "was old, with a very pale face, who moved with a cane and wore a fur hat". The man was born in 1948 and had three children, he confides to Midi Libre.
According to the statements of another neighbor, the deceased was originally from Morocco, more precisely from Azrou, a small town south of Fez. He lived alone in social housing provided by Habitat du Gard in 2006, his family having remained in the country.
The autopsy performed on Monday, February 3, revealed that Mokrane H.’s death was natural. According to the forensic doctor, Mounir Benslima, the septuagenarian died "during a cold period" in winter. Since the state of preservation is exceptional. "Never seen in 30 years of career," exclaims the expert.
