MRE Morocco Summer Banking Pop-Up Spaces Attract Diaspora
Bank Of Africa is deploying temporary banking spaces at several tourist sites this summer. Officially, it’s about making life easier for Moroccans living abroad. But this clientele, already heavily solicited, remains a major commercial target.
Moroccans abroad are returning to Morocco, and banks are never far behind. During July, Bank Of Africa is setting up temporary banking spaces in several heavily frequented locations, notably at Agadir’s Corniche, in Tiznit’s city center, and at Dania Land park.

The initiative, called "Summer Pop Up," is accessible every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. It offers proximity banking services, dedicated customer service, and entertainment activities, according to Bank Of Africa.
Presented as a practical initiative to support Moroccans living abroad during their vacations, the operation also follows an obvious commercial logic. MREs transfer more than 120 billion dirhams to Morocco each year, and banks want to capture an increasingly larger share of this windfall.
A highly coveted and sometimes harassed clientele
Bank accounts, cards, loans, real estate, investments: MREs are regularly solicited as soon as they walk through an agency door. Even for a simple transaction, offers can multiply.
The contrast is often noted by customers themselves: opening an account can be presented as a quick formality, sometimes in just a few minutes, while closing it or handling certain administrative procedures takes much longer.
Efforts to bring services closer to MREs are useful, especially during summer, when travel is frequent and immediate needs are high. But this proximity also has a downside: MREs become a permanent target, courted even in their vacation spots.

With these temporary spaces, Moroccan banks are showing they want to be present wherever MREs go, spend, and make their decisions. An additional service, certainly, but also a way to never let this clientele off the radar.
