Morocco’s World Cup Qualifier Match Canceled as Eritrea Withdraws from Tournament

The Moroccan national football team will ultimately not face the Eritrean team. This is what FIFA has just confirmed on its website.
The match counting for the first day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers was scheduled for November 16 at the Grand Stade d’Agadir.
A few weeks ago, the local press had reported that the Eritrean federation had announced that the national team had withdrawn from the World Cup qualifiers due to the lack of a large stadium capable of hosting competitions and the lack of financial resources.
During the press conference on Thursday, Walid Regragui had already hinted that Morocco would not play the match against Eritrea, however specifying that he was awaiting a final decision from FIFA. Moreover, it was impossible for Morocco to organize a friendly match in such a short time.
