Morocco Waives Tax Penalties to Boost Payment of Overdue Debts

The General Treasury of the Kingdom (TGR) has decided to encourage taxpayers to pay tax and duty arrears and other debts owed to the State and local authorities, issued before January 1, 2020 and unpaid as of December 31, 2020.
In a press release, it announced the abolition of penalties, fines, surcharges, late payment interest and collection costs for any person who pays the principal before July 1, 2021.
These incentive and motivational measures were introduced in the 2021 Finance Act and Law No. 07-20. Other debts owed to local authorities for the years 2019 and prior are also covered by this measure.
Taxpayers can pay their fees at the collection offices, by bank card via the TGR website or ATMs, through the E-banking website or Mobile Banking applications, as well as by bank transfer. According to the TGR, they can also consult the website "tgr.gov.ma", or go to the TGR counters for more information.
