Morocco Urges Stronger Ties with France Amid Global Challenges, Says Ambassador

The Moroccan ambassador to France seized the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the Throne Feast to call on his country and France to strengthen and renew their "exceptional" relationship. The two countries must adapt their ties to new challenges, said the diplomat.
"As the Covid-19 crisis demands change [...], we must work together to preserve the foundations of the exceptional relationship between Morocco and France, a dense and resilient relationship, nourished by a deep friendship and converging interests," said the Moroccan ambassador to Paris, Chakib Benmoussa, in a video made by the embassy. With the current challenges related to climate change, the fight against terrorism, security, the management of migration flows or the shared competitiveness between France and Morocco, it is essential to renew the relationship between the two countries.
The ambassador paid tribute to the "French friends" of the kingdom who, through their "dynamism and mobilization, allow us to project ourselves with confidence towards the future and to constantly renew the France-Morocco relationship." He welcomed the efforts made by the kingdom to limit the impacts of the health crisis through the establishment of several measures. Benmoussa also addressed the latest progress made on the Sahara issue, not forgetting the major investment program put in place in recent years and which is progressing with major projects such as the port of Dakhla Atlantique, the strengthening of road, air and other connections.
After saluting the Moroccan community residing in France for its attachment to the kingdom, the diplomat allowed some French personalities to congratulate King Mohammed VI on his 22nd anniversary of accession to the Throne and to express several wishes for him and for the prosperity of the relations between the two countries. This is the case of Senator Christian Cambon, president of the France-Morocco friendship group in the Senate, Senator and vice-president of the friendship group Catherine Morin-Desailly, Catherine Dumas, Senator of Paris and vice-president of the friendship group, Joël Mergui, president of the Central Israelite Consistory France and many other Moroccan personalities in France.
