Morocco Unveils Plan to Boost Diaspora Investment and Economic Ties

The Delegate Ministry in charge of Moroccans Living Abroad and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) held a meeting last Wednesday as part of the development of a national strategy for the benefit of Moroccans abroad (MREs).
This meeting aimed to strengthen the cooperation between MREs and the CGEM and to boost the participation of these entrepreneurs in the various development and economic recovery projects put in place by King Mohammed VI, the two parties said in a statement received by MAP on Thursday. This project will help mobilize Moroccan entrepreneurs residing in Belgium by providing institutional support to the companies assisted in the implementation of their projects in Morocco, explained the Delegate Minister in charge of MREs, Nezha El Ouafi, indicating that her department is committed to making Moroccan entrepreneurs of the world (MeM) the main actors in sustainable development in Morocco and essential contributors in the development of economic recovery plans.
For his part, Mr. Amor stressed the role of the selected MeMs within the framework of the Maghrib Belgium Impulse (MBI) project, specifying that they must support their Moroccan entrepreneur compatriots in the efforts of the post-Covid-19 economic recovery. The beneficiaries did not fail to give their testimony and appreciate the "positive" impact of this program on the success of their projects, while emphasizing the need for additional financial support to overcome the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the meeting, the Delegate Ministry and the 13th region of the CGEM renewed their commitment to continue their support for this program and to improve their partnership for the development of other projects carried out by the MeMs, in order to inform about the various investment opportunities in the 12 regions of Morocco and to attract more Moroccan investors residing abroad, the statement concluded.
