Morocco Unveils Guide to Combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing

A practical guide on the fight against money laundering (ML) and terrorist financing (TF) was presented, on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, by the Moroccan Capital Market Authority (AMMC) in Rabat.
This guide is part of the deployment of the roadmap developed by the AMMC to raise awareness and support capital market players for the effective implementation of obligations related to the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, the Authority said in a press release.
This document also presents in a didactic way the legal and regulatory requirements incumbent on the persons subject to them in order to protect them against any exploitation for the purposes of ML&TF.
In her presentation, the President of the AMMC, Nezha Hayat, recalled the context and the stakes of the AML&CFT at the national level and highlighted the main axes of the Authority’s strategy in this area. "The publication of this guide is part of the AMMC’s awareness-raising approach for market operators to have a good understanding of the rules and risks associated with money laundering and terrorist financing issues," she recalls.
For his part, Jawhar Nfissi, President of the Financial Intelligence Processing Unit (UTRF), highlighted the efforts made by the Kingdom in the field of AML&CFT and the central role of the Unit in this process, in coordination with national and international bodies.
