Morocco's U20 Sensation: Atlas Lions Roar into World Cup Semifinals

After a historic victory against the United States (3-1) in the quarter-finals of the U20 World Cup in Chile, the coach of the Moroccan team, Mohamed Ouahbi, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Atlas Lions. Next opponent: France!

Mohamed Ouahbi is proud of his players. "We have complete confidence in our abilities. We have players with strong offensive potential capable of destabilizing any defense, in addition to a solid and well-organized backline. What sets our group apart is the balance between attack and defense; all the players fulfill their duties, and that’s what makes the difference," he said after the match between Morocco and the United States. The Atlas Lions won the match 3-1, thus qualifying for the semi-finals of the U20 World Cup being held in Chile. This is the first time Morocco has reached the last four of the U20 World Cup, which was in 2005.

"What makes me even prouder is the fighting spirit shown by the players. They played for this achievement, and they are now writing their own history in Moroccan football. This generation has a clear personality and ambition, and it deserves to be celebrated," added the coach of the Moroccan national team. He continued: "During the first half, we had difficulties in defensive organization, but we improved a lot in the second half, becoming a team that was more in control of the game. The challenge was real, and we came out of it with valuable lessons."

Ouahbi believes that working with these young people is a real pleasure. "They are writing their history in their own way, and simply, they deserve it. This generation gives me hope and motivates me to give my best every day," he concluded.

After this historic feat, Morocco will face France on Wednesday, October 15, in Chile.
