Morocco Travel Allowance Ceiling: 500000 Dirhams Limit
The allowance for personal travel enables travelers departing from Morocco to have foreign currency for their expenses abroad. Its basic amount is set at 100,000 dirhams, but it can be increased under certain conditions, up to an annual ceiling of 500,000 dirhams per person.
The travel allowance is not always limited to 100,000 dirhams. According to the Office of Exchange, individuals concerned with personal travel from Morocco can benefit from a basic allowance of 100,000 dirhams, intended to cover expenses incurred abroad.

This allowance concerns personal trips made from Morocco, either directly or through an approved travel agency. It can be used to pay several types of expenses, including transport tickets, accommodation fees, lodging or other personal expenses related to travel.
A supplement linked to income tax
The basic amount can be increased by an additional allowance. According to the Office of Exchange rules, this supplement corresponds to 30% of income tax paid or withheld at source during the previous year.
In practice, some travelers can therefore obtain a larger allowance than the basic amount, provided they justify payment of income tax in Morocco. The supplement is granted upon presentation of a document issued by the Moroccan administration attesting to this payment.
For retirees, the Office of Exchange also provides a special rule: the supplement can be granted based on a document justifying payment of income tax for the year of retirement.
An annual ceiling of 500,000 dirhams
Even with this supplement, the allowance remains limited. The total of the basic allowance and the additional allowance cannot exceed 500,000 dirhams per person per calendar year.
This sum therefore represents the maximum ceiling, not an amount automatically granted to all travelers. It depends on the beneficiary’s situation, particularly their income tax paid in Morocco the previous year.
Banks can provide this allowance in several forms: banknotes, traveler’s checks, bank checks or loading an international payment card. Currency operators can also provide it in the form of foreign banknotes.
The Office of Exchange specifies, however, that on each trip, the amount provided in foreign banknotes cannot exceed the equivalent of 100,000 dirhams. The remainder can be used through other authorized payment methods.
