Morocco Tops Air Traffic Between France and Africa with 6.89 Million Passengers in 2019

The Morocco-France route recorded 6.89 million passengers in 2019, making the kingdom the leading Maghreb country in terms of air traffic between the Metropolis and Africa.
In 2019, 20.54 million passengers were transported between France and the African continent, an increase of 5.15% year-on-year, according to data from the French Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC).
French companies carried 42% of this total, or 8.69 million passengers. The African carriers Air Algérie (2.86 million passengers), Royal Air Maroc (1.72 million passengers), Tunisair (1.39 million passengers), Air Mauritius (577,966) and Air Arabia Maroc (512,895), etc. and foreign carriers operated the rest, the DGAC details. As for freight traffic between France and Africa, it jumped by 4.96% to reach 0.2 million tons.
The Maghreb operated the largest number of routes, particularly in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt. In sub-Saharan Africa, these were Senegal, Cameroon, Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa and Madagascar.
In 2019, the most important routes were operated to Morocco with 6.89 million passengers, followed by routes to Algeria (4.35 million passengers), Tunisia (3.45 million passengers) and Egypt (639,096 passengers).
