Morocco Tightens Travel Restrictions Between Cities Amid COVID-19 Concerns

The Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, has instructed the governors to tighten the issuance of travel authorizations. This will limit the movement of citizens between cities.
The pashas and other authority agents are no longer authorized to issue travel authorizations. This mission, the Minister of the Interior has now entrusted to the governors. The latter will have to conduct an investigation to ensure the veracity of the data appearing on the travel request. The competent services will have to verify the destination of the applicant (home, hospital or service), and judge the necessity of this movement in these exceptional circumstances.
According to the reports drawn up under the supervision of the governor, the citizen wishing to travel to other cities will either be authorized to do so, or forced to remain in the city where he is until the end of the state of health emergency, reports Assabah. In addition to the travel authorization, the traveler must be equipped with an exit certificate issued by the Mokadem.
The Ministry of the Interior has established the list of exceptional cases. These are the police services, elements of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), auxiliary forces, firefighters, authority agents and political officials such as ministers and parliamentarians residing outside the administrative capital.
