Morocco Taps French Firm IDEMIA for New Digital ID Cards and Online Services Platform

The French company IDEMIA, world leader in Augmented Identity, has just signed a "strategic contract" with the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN). Objectives: to provide new electronic national identity cards (CNIE) and set up a secure digital identity platform for online services.
"The national digital identity system that will be set up by the DGSN will allow Moroccan citizens to access online services in a secure environment," says IDEMIA in a press release posted on its website.
This French company will provide the DGSN with its digital authentication platform aimed at facilitating online exchanges between citizens and administrations or private service providers who wish to benefit from the digital functionalities of the new national identity card.
According to IDEMIA, the new biometric identity card will accelerate the deployment of the Kingdom’s online services and contribute significantly to the development of the digital economy.
Similarly, the new CNIE will ensure the security of citizens’ online authentication and transactions. As a result, all online services could benefit from the national digital identity system proposed by the DGSN and provide citizens with simple, fast, secure access and ensure the protection of their personal data present exclusively on the electronic national identity card.
