Morocco Summons Spanish Ambassador Over Alleged Abuse of Migrant Minors
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned, this Wednesday, February 3, the Spanish ambassador to Rabat, after watching a video showing Moroccan minors attacked by Guardia Civil agents.
A senior official from the ministry received the diplomat to express Morocco’s "concern" and "concern" over the treatment inflicted on Moroccan minors in detention centers in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, reports Le360.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs became aware of a video shared on social media, in which Guardia Civil agents can be seen harassing and assaulting a group of illegal immigrants, including Moroccan minors. According to the Spanish press, the video was recorded on January 31, 2021.
The ministry then called on the Spanish authorities to take measures to ensure the protection of Moroccan minors, on the one hand, and to take disciplinary action against the Guardia Civil agents involved in these assaults.
