Morocco-Spain Reconciliation Sparks Hope for Transport Industry Reforms

Following the reconciliation between Morocco and Spain, Moroccan transporters expect the authorities of the two countries to find solutions to the problems they face on a daily basis.
In the wake of the reconciliation between Rabat and Madrid, the hearts of Moroccan transporters are swelling with hope. They hope that the Moroccan and Spanish authorities, who are preparing to discuss in particular the control of passenger and freight traffic between Spain and Morocco, will provide solutions to their problems. Already, they are calling for the revision of the bilateral agreement on the so-called "bilateralized transport" signed in 2012, reports Challenge.ma.
According to Moroccan operators, paragraph 13 of Article 15 of the agreement poses a problem, as it only benefits Spanish operators. They also wish that the provision of the bilateral agreement concerning triangular transport will also be reviewed. According to them, this type of transport only benefits their Spanish counterparts. Another problem: the fines related to the 200-liter franchise and the high rejection rates of Schengen visas for Moroccan drivers.
