Morocco Sees COVID-19 Stabilization as Vaccination Certificate Requirement Takes Effect
The epidemiological situation is stabilizing day by day in Morocco. This is what Professor Azeddine Ibrahimi declared this Monday in a post on his Facebook page, stating that the requirement of the vaccination certificate will contribute to it even more.
The stability of the health crisis in the kingdom "can be attributed to several factors, including the maintenance of the night curfew during the month of Ramadan," said the director of the Biotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Rabat and member of the National Scientific Committee on Covid-19, recalling that "the objective of all the approaches to the treatment of Covid-19 is to ensure that critical cases do not develop." Thus, with the large vaccination campaign started a few months ago, "we are on the right track to protect 20% of the population (age groups over 45 years old), who were developing critical cases," he specified.
Moreover, it is of great necessity to get vaccinated, since "most of the people in intensive care and the deaths in hospitals are unvaccinated people." Regarding inter-city travel, several countries have opted for three types of travel authorization: the vaccination certificate, authorizations issued by the authorities, and negative PCR tests less than 48 hours old. Thus, Ibrahimi estimated that "all vaccinated people are allowed to travel without special authorization." In the case of the kingdom, "travel from Morocco to abroad is a sovereign decision for each host country," concluded the professor.
