Morocco Refutes French Media Claims About Detained Actor Brahim Bouhlel

For a few days now, several French media have stood out in the dissemination of "tendentious allegations" concerning the Franco-Algerian Brahim Bouhlel, incarcerated in the local prison of Oudaya in Marrakech. In a statement, the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) indicated on Monday that it is a "raging campaign" led by certain parties in France against the Kingdom.
"These successive acts of media harassment are in fact attempts at blackmail which, under the guise of human rights protection, aim to achieve undisclosed objectives," stresses the DGAPR, flatly rejecting the allegations disseminated by a French lawyer.
According to the publications denounced by the DGAPR, the detainee would be placed in a cell housing 15 prisoners. He would have been granted less time for telephone communications. For the prison institution, this is not the case at all since he is housed with 9 other co-detainees in a cell that has 12 beds and enjoys all the rights recognized by the law in force for all prisoners.
Sentenced to eight months in prison for recording and disseminating photos and videos without the prior consent of the persons concerned, for defamation against them as well as against minors, Brahim Bouhlel was sentenced to eight months of actual imprisonment. "How to explain the accusations of espionage using computer programs directed in a totally unfounded way against him and the support that some French officials in certain NGOs provide to convicted inmates in common law cases?" wonders the DGAPR.
Since his incarceration, Brahim Bouhlel has integrated, even participating in reintegration preparation activities. He recently participated in the "National Caravan of the Moroccan Sahara in Penitentiary Establishments". All of these things show, indicates the DGAPR, the lying nature of the allegations circulated by the lawyer.
