Morocco Refuses to Accept Notorious Jihadist Recruiter Malika El Aroud

Morocco refuses to cooperate in the extradition of Malika El Aroud, who is nicknamed the "black widow" of jihadism. The announcement was made on Monday by Sammy Mahdi, the Secretary of State for Asylum.
It was in 2010 that Malika El Aroud, nicknamed the "black widow" of jihad or the "fiancée of the jihadists", was convicted of participation in a terrorist group. She was deprived of her Belgian nationality by a judgment of the Brussels Court of Appeal on November 30, 2017, for "having seriously failed in her duties as a Belgian citizen", reports RTBF.
She only has her Moroccan nationality left to assert. But since 2019, the Council for Alien Law Litigation has been trying to organize her repatriation without success. Morocco remains impassive in the face of the request addressed to it. "For the moment, she cannot be removed from Belgian territory. Of course, she remains in the sights of the services," explains the Secretary of State in a press release.
Sammy Mahdi finds Morocco’s behavior "frustrating" and calls for visa sanctions for countries that do not take back their own citizens. "Return must not remain an optional proposal for countries of origin. Countries that cooperate well can be rewarded with visa advantages, but these advantages should be withdrawn when countries do not do so," he threatened.
