Italy, the United Kingdom, France and Portugal remain reliable choices for Spanish travelers. But Morocco is also holding its own. According to data from Kiwi.com published Wednesday, October 7, the kingdom ranks eighth among the most-booked countries for the Spanish National Day long weekend, celebrated on October 12. It is also the first destination outside Europe in the ranking, which is dominated by neighboring countries.

The bookings were made by Spanish nationals planning to depart on October 9 or 10 and return on the 12th or 13th. A total of 53 countries featured in bookings recorded by the platform as of October 6. Spain ranks first, ahead of Italy, the United Kingdom, France and Portugal. Poland, Hungary and Romania also make the top 10.

Spaniards travel more despite higher airfares

The October long weekend is expected to be particularly busy. According to figures reported by Europa Press, flight bookings surged 129% compared with the equivalent period in 2025, while the number of passengers rose 132%.

The cost is rising too. Average fares are up 22.7% year on year, and the median ticket price has now reached 166.50 euros per passenger, an increase of 23.3%. Is that enough to put off some would-be travelers? The bookings recorded so far suggest not.

Madrid and Barcelona together account for nearly 40% of the passengers concerned, ahead of Alicante, Valencia and Malaga. But the sharpest increase is in Valencia, where the number of travelers is up 231.5%, thanks in particular to the regional public holiday on October 9, which makes it possible to enjoy four days off.
