Morocco’s PJD Ministers Accelerate Party Appointments Ahead of Term End

A few months before the end of the current term, ministers who are members of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) have resumed the promotion of cadres from their political party to various positions of responsibility.
The appointment machine of the Head of Government has resumed service in favor of PJD supporters. On the proposal of the Minister of State, Mustapha Ramid, Saâdeddine El Othmani approved the appointment of Ali El Sahoul to the position of Director of Studies and Computer Systems of the department in charge of relations with Parliament, reports Al Akhbar. This is an unsurprising appointment for this member of the PJD national council, who is also one of the leaders of the Movement of Unity and Reform (MUR). This position had been promised to him.
At the Ministry of Transport, the first authority of this department, Abdelkader Amara, renewed for four years the contract of the Director of Administrative and Legal Affairs, Lahcen Maazizi. The Head of Government approved the appointment of Mohamed Beroui as head of the Directorate of Control and Legal Affairs following a proposal from the Minister of Energy, Aziz Rabbah. For his part, the PJD mayor of Rabat, Mohamed Sadiki, made provisional appointments of executives capable of controlling public procurement. He also appointed four advisors to his office.
To date, the two predominantly PJD governments (those of Abdelilah Benkirane and El Othmani) have approved 1,100 appointments to high-level positions. Most of the positions have been allocated to members belonging to the parties of the governing majority, the same source specifies.
