Morocco Orders $20 Million Oil Tanker from South Korea to Boost Coastal Shipping

In order to boost the coastal shipping sector in a difficult context, Morocco has commissioned a large-capacity oil tanker from a South Korean company, which is expected to be delivered next year.
Valued at $20 million, this tanker has been ordered from the South Korean Dae Sun Shipbuiding by Petrocab, reports Challenge, specifying that it is a "handy size" of 9,000 DWT (deadweight tonnage, loading capacity) that will sail under the Moroccan flag.
To recall, Petrocab is currently managed by a board of directors with shareholders Vivo Energy Maroc (Shell), Libya Oil Maroc, Total Maroc, Société Nationale des Produits Pétroliers (SNPP), Pétrole du Maghreb (Petrom), and the Moroccan Hydrocarbon Company (CMH).
Today, petroleum products account for 50% of national coastal shipping, which amounts to 6 million tons, mainly containers and hydrocarbons, the same source specifies.
