Morocco’s Neutral Stance Key to Resolving Libyan Conflict, Expert Says

The importance of Morocco in the Libyan conflict "lies in its neutrality". This is at least what Koert Debeuf, a specialist in the geopolitics of conflicts, and former advisor and spokesman for the former Belgian Prime Minister, Guy Verhofstadt, affirmed.
"Morocco, which is not located in one camp or the other, is the only country in the Middle East and North Africa that agrees with the two camps that are opposed in Libya," said Mr. Debeuf on Medi1 TV, recalling that the kingdom is the only country in North Africa that does not have borders with Libya.
Relying on the neutrality of the kingdom, the former advisor and spokesman of the former Belgian Prime Minister, Guy Verhofstadt, hammers that "we must give much more international weight to Morocco in order to be able to do something in the Libyan conflict".
The specialist in the geopolitics of conflicts also stated that the European Union is "divided" on the conflict in Libya because of oil issues.
