Morocco's Mezian-Benjelloun and Bensouda Awarded French Legion of Honor

Leïla Mezian-Benjelloun and Noureddine Bensouda were decorated, on Tuesday in Rabat, with the insignia of Officer of the Legion of Honor of the French Republic. The president of the BMCE Bank Foundation and the Treasurer General of the Kingdom have received this honor thanks to their exceptional careers and their respective commitments in the service of their country.

This decoration was presented to the two recipients, on behalf of the President of the French Republic, by the Ambassador of the French Republic to Morocco, Hélène Le Gal. It was during a ceremony attended by several personalities from the diplomatic, political and business world.

In her speech, Hélène Le Gal praised Leïla Mezian-Benjelloun and recalled her commitments in favor of education, the environment and culture, both nationally and internationally. "Thanks to your fierce determination to see the most vulnerable gain access to education, 20,000 students have been schooled in the Medersat network in 20 years." She saluted the "multilingualism" for which the recipient fights, through the promotion of the French language and the enhancement of vernacular languages, including Amazigh, as part of the support program for the schooling of young Moroccans in rural areas.

Regarding Noureddine Bensouda, the ambassador noted that since his appointment in 2010, the man has undertaken major reforms, by equipping the General Treasury of the Kingdom (TGR) with "modern structures necessary for the anchoring of the performance budgetary approach". For Hélène LE Gal, Noureddine Bensouda is one of the "faithful artisans of the exceptional relationship that unites Morocco and France", through numerous actions in the field of public finances.
