Morocco Lowers Entry Requirements for Medical and Pharmacy Schools

The average access to the entrance exams for the faculties of medicine and pharmacy has dropped from 14.4 to 12/20, for the 2020/21 academic year. The announcement was made on Sunday, August 2 by the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training and Higher Education.
The new measure, which was motivated by 4 determining factors, was adopted with a view to offering the majority of candidates the opportunity to access the various medical training programs, the ministry’s press release states.
Instead of the 11 exams in force, the ministry emphasizes that common entrance exams for the first year of the medicine, pharmacy and dentistry cycles will be organized on August 5, and the results will be announced on August 7.
The press release also indicates that an electronic portal concoursmed.ma will be set up to manage the various stages of the common competition, and that, for security reasons, the exams will take place in 88 centers located near the places of residence.
The fourth factor is to lower the average required for pre-selection for the entrance exam, in order to increase the number of baccalaureate candidates. Out of a total of 72,352 registered on the national portal, 56,600 candidates were pre-selected with an average baccalaureate grade of 12/20.
