Morocco Launches Cybercrime Investigation into Leaked COVID-19 Patient Data

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) is now on the trail of individuals who published on social networks a purported list of people infected with the coronavirus.
The investigation, ordered by the Attorney General of the King near the Court of Appeal of Casablanca, is carried out by a special unit to fight cybercrime under the DGSN, in collaboration with the judicial police. It has made it possible to seize dozens of videos and audio recordings attributed to officials and ministers.
These videos would currently be analyzed by specialized units in the processing of this type of case under the judicial police. They are in charge of cybernetic investigations, as well as digital expertise and analysis.
A team of computer scientists is collecting and analyzing all computer data, both nationally and internationally.
As for the unit specialized in technical investigations, it is responsible for the computerization of data relating to crimes linked to new technologies. It also ensures the collection of all digital evidence to confront the suspects.
