Morocco-Israel Diplomatic Visits Postponed Amid COVID-19 Surge

The official visits between Morocco and Israel that were to take place in February have been canceled or postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced in early February that a high-level Moroccan delegation would travel to Israel to complete the steps of normalizing diplomatic relations between the two countries. Similarly, the visit of an Israeli delegation led by the National Security Advisor, Meir Ben Shabbat, was scheduled for late February. None of these visits took place.
According to the Israeli media, the cancellation and postponement of these official visits are explained by the repercussions of the coronavirus and the measures taken to combat it, whether in Israel or in other countries. The sources also stressed that the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, was supposed to visit Bahrain, but the coronavirus caused the postponement of this visit.
As of February 27, the Covid-19 report in Israel shows 775,890 cases of contamination, 729,425 recoveries and 5,767 deaths. On the same date, Morocco recorded 483,826 cases of contamination, 469,227 recoveries and 8,622 deaths.
