Morocco Intensifies Airport Customs Checks to Combat Gold Smuggling

After recent seizures of large gold shipments, the control services of the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration (ADII) have stepped up their investigations at airports to limit the smuggling of jewelry and gold objects and money laundering.
The competent services of the ADII have strengthened the investigations, particularly at the Mohammed V and Marrakech-Menara international airports, to prevent the smuggling of jewelry and gold objects by foreigners, mostly of Arab and African nationalities.
