Morocco Implements New Regulations for Collective Land Management

The new regulations on the exploitation and management of collective lands are now in force. This follows the adoption of the implementing decree of Law 62-17.
According to Les Inspirations Eco, the advantage of the new system is the enhancement of collective lands under the new regime of exploitation and management of collective lands. This new regime will strengthen the process of registration and securing 5 million hectares belonging to "soulaliyates" communities. The operators of the lands, located outside the irrigated perimeter, will be privileged.
The same source indicates that the implementation of the new regulations, focused on the transfer of land, will be done through tenders, based on a specification. Then, an expanded commission, chaired by the governors, will ensure the monitoring of the projects. As for the deadlines for validating investment projects, the decree stipulates that the transfer contract must be handed over to the successful bidder within a maximum of 15 days.
According to the latest government report, nearly 3,800 communities have been identified, with more than 8,200 representatives.
