Morocco Haiti Match Analysis: Shot Accuracy Problem Revealed
Morocco faces Haiti as favorites, but the Opta figures from the first two matches invite caution. The Lions shoot a lot, but still lack accuracy on target.
On paper, the match against Haiti looks like a game Morocco should control. The Atlas Lions have already shown they can compete against Brazil and beat Scotland. But behind the results, one statistical detail could make the evening more complicated than expected: Morocco creates situations without always converting them into dangerous shots.

Against Brazil, the Lions attempted 14 shots. But only 3 were on target. Six others were blocked. Morocco produced 1.368 expected goals, proof that it managed to approach the opponent’s box and create danger. But the ratio between shot volume and shots actually on target remains limited.
The same problem appeared against Scotland. Morocco shot 12 times, but only 2 shots found the target. Four attempts were blocked. Again, the content wasn’t empty: 0.994 expected goals, 9 shots in the box and 11 situations created. But efficiency in the final touch didn’t always follow.
Over the two matches, the total is revealing: 26 shots, only 5 on target. That’s less than one shot on target out of five. Add to that 10 blocked shots, a sign that opponents still often manage to close the angles at the last moment.
It’s not a problem of lack of play. Morocco completed 486 passes against Brazil, then 670 passes against Scotland. It also displayed real offensive presence, with 15 crosses against Brazil and 10 crosses against Scotland. But this dominance must still produce more clean shots, more strikes that force the opposing goalkeeper to intervene.
Against Haiti, this detail could become central. If Morocco scores early, the match could open up. But if the Lions take time to find the breakthrough, the known risk emerges: high possession, set-piece attacks, repeated crosses, blocked shots and mounting nervousness.

Opta statistics don’t say Morocco will struggle. They rather show where the trap lies. Against Haiti, the Lions must not only dominate. They must be accurate, finish their moves and convert their volume of play into genuinely dangerous chances.
