Morocco’s Gaming Industry Booms: 3 Million Players Generate $84 Million Annually

In France, Japan and Morocco, the video game sector is developing. More than three million active gamers indulge in gaming in the kingdom, which has generated a turnover of 840 million dirhams.
The democratization of smartphones, tablets and electronic games on PCs and consoles has contributed to the development of the video game industry in France, Japan and the United States, in Morocco, etc., notes La Vie éco. Thanks to the telecom operator Inwi, which has created the Esport Academy and the "Inwi e-league", there are more than three million active gamers in the kingdom. The sector generates 840 million dirhams.
The telecom operator’s efforts have been rewarded. In 2019, the telecom operator was awarded the "Africa Gaming Award" in the French capital during the "Paris Games Week" event for its commitment to promoting gaming in Africa in general and in Morocco in particular. The following year, the first edition of the Moroccan video game show, "Casablanca Gaming Expo" was to take place in the economic capital of the kingdom.
This year, the fifth season of Inwi e-League is being organized in partnership with Moroccan Gaming Evolution (MGE). The best Moroccan gamers are competing for a cash prize of 100,000 DH. On the program, two flagship games from the publisher RIOT: League of Legends-Wild Rift (on Mobile) and Valorant (on PC). The second edition of the Intel Arabian Cup (IAC), the official League Of Legends competition in the MENA region will also take place this year. Inwi will be the official streaming partner for the Moroccan qualifications.
