Morocco Favored to Win 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, Says Top Commentator

Algerian sports commentator for BeIN Sports, Hafid Derradji, designates Morocco as the champion of the next Africa Cup of Nations football (CAN) to be held from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Côte d’Ivoire.
"Morocco is the team most likely to win the Africa Cup among the Maghreb teams," said the famous Algerian commentator on the airwaves of the Tunisian radio station IFM. The Atlas Lions made history by becoming the first African team to play in a World Cup semi-final after beating major football nations like Belgium, Spain and Portugal. They also beat Brazil, which holds the record for World Cup wins with five titles, in a friendly match.
The dream of the Moroccan team and its coach is to reach at least the semi-finals in the next Africa Cup of Nations, and at best, to win the cup. "The performances of the national team in previous CANs have never reflected the true level of national football. I want to change that to keep the bar high. Now that we have reached the World Cup semi-finals, the ambition is to maintain the same pace, to always reach the semi-finals in competitions, including the CAN," Walid Regragui has meanwhile declared.
And to add: "After, there may be accidents along the way, but the ambition will be to remain in the same state of mind. So we will go to Côte d’Ivoire as contenders, but we must be up to our objectives, namely at least to reach the semi-finals. [...] Moreover, our common goal will be to win one of the next two CANs to enter history forever."
