Morocco Faces Triple Challenge in African Football Competitions

Moroccan football has asserted itself in 2024, winning several titles including the title of the African Nations Cup of futsal for the third consecutive time, a historic bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games. This year, Morocco has three major challenges to meet.
To win the CHAN title for the third time in its history, the CAN title and the CAF Champions League title. These are the three major challenges that Morocco must take up this year.
Since the 2018 editions in Morocco, under the direction of coach Jamal Sellami, and 2021 in Cameroon, under the direction of coach Houcine Ammouta, Morocco has never won the CHAN title again. A good participation of the Moroccan local team in this competition will give it the opportunity to hope to win this title and to launch itself in the race for the Arab Cup trophy.
At the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) held in Addis Ababa in 1976, Morocco won the title, for the only time in its history, scoring eleven goals and conceding six goals. Since then, it has been in search of a second star. The Atlas Lions hope to take up this challenge this year where Morocco is hosting the African competition. It will take place between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026. Morocco hopes to achieve very good performances at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup which it will host respectively in July and September next.
On the club side, the Royal Armed Forces club hopes to win the CAF Champions League title, a trophy that has been missing from its record since 1985. The Renaissance of Berkane will have to maximize its chances to win the CAF Confederation Cup title. A title it lost last season to the Egyptian club Zamalek.
