Morocco Eyes Belgian-Born Zaroury as World Cup Replacement for Injured Harit

After Bilal El Khannouss, Morocco could steal another talent from Belgium by summoning Anass Zaroury to the World Cup, to replace the injured Amine Harit.

Will Walid Regragui call on the Belgian-Moroccan Anass Zaroury to bolster his team in Qatar? This is at least what Moroccan journalist Izem Anass suggests, indicating that the Moroccan coach could still come and take from the Belgian-Moroccan pool to succeed in his mission.

Born in Belgium to Moroccan parents, Zaroury was trained at Zulte Waregem and Lommel. He revealed himself at Sporting Charleroi before signing for Burnley this summer. A Belgian youth international, the player has always expressed his desire to play for Morocco.

With a remarkable start to the season with 6 goals and 2 assists in 14 games, the left winger would be one of the options of the Moroccan coach, according to the journalist, who also points out that Zaroury is currently on vacation in the United Arab Emirates where Morocco will play their last friendly match before the World Cup against Georgia.

After the selection of Bilal El Khannouss, the Belgian press had estimated that Belgium had lost one of "its" great talents in favor of Morocco. Jackie Mathijssen, coach of the Belgian (U21) team, had declared: it is "a shame (for Belgium, editor’s note) because he is a very good and interesting player."
