Morocco Exempts Dual Nationals from Mandatory Military Service

The military service that is to be implemented at the end of this year is not mandatory for Moroccans of the world, the Moroccan embassy in Belgium has just assured.
Cited by the Belga agency, the Moroccan diplomatic representation recalls that "dual nationals are not affected by this measure, unless they wish to do so".
"After checking in Rabat, dual nationals are not affected by the measure, except on a voluntary basis," the embassy details.
Morocco is preparing to reestablish compulsory military service for a period of 12 months for young people aged 19 to 25. After some doubts about women, parliament has finally decided to make it compulsory for both sexes, as provided for in the original text.
According to the Minister of National Defense Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi, it should concern 10,000 young people as of September for a projected budget of 500 million dirhams per year.
