Morocco Ensures Milk Supply for Ramadan Despite Drought Concerns

Morocco has sufficient reserves, particularly in soft wheat and milk. Fears of a shortage, fueled by the effects of the drought, have been dispelled by the government.
The government spokesman affirmed on Thursday that normal milk production will be maintained by producers and farmers. To this end, urgent measures have been taken by the government. "There will be no shortage of milk in the coming months, nor during the Ramadan month," he said.
In this regard, an emergency plan has been put in place for agriculture, he said, specifying that an amount of 1.5 billion dirhams has been disbursed to allow farmers to buy a maximum of 8 quintals of barley per head to feed the livestock. The unit price of a kilogram of barley has been set between 2.50 and 2.83 dirhams.
"The objective is to provide livestock feed to milk producers to maintain the same production rate," Baitas stressed, a production "that will be sufficient for the coming months."
