Morocco Emerges as Top Summer Destination for French Travelers, Survey Shows

In France, Morocco tops the ranking of summer destinations abroad, ahead of Tunisia and Spain.
With 38% of the votes expressed by the surveyed travel agencies, Morocco takes the first place in the ranking of summer destinations abroad, according to the latest monthly report from the EDV (Entreprises du Voyage) Observatory, consulted by Barlamane.com. The kingdom owes this position to its easy air accessibility and stable climate. Morocco is far ahead of Tunisia and Spain, which received 27% and 23% of the votes respectively. This ranking - a marked preference of French professionals - was compiled from the declarations of more than 600 points of sale.
Regarding summer bookings for all countries combined, France obtained 57% of intentions and rises to first place. The Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts are among its assets. "Customers are showing increased loyalty to French destinations, reinforced by an expanded offer and reassuring predictability," the report highlights.
Concerning actual departures, April 2025 shows a slight decline in the number of travelers (-2% compared to April 2024). However, this decrease in volume is largely offset by an increase in value (+7%), reflecting a general revaluation of products. "The average basket now reaches €868, up 6% year-on-year" - or about 9,550 Moroccan dirhams, the document specifies.
Nearby European destinations recorded very good performances: +20% in value for Italy, +10% in value for Greece, and +9% in value for Portugal. Outside Europe, Turkey confirms its renewed interest (+6%). As for the Dominican Republic (+20%), it continues on an upward trajectory, without however reaching its pre-crisis level of attendance, according to the barometer.
