Morocco Deploys Special Forces to Combat Coastal Drug Trafficking

Morocco has decided to use strong means to fight against drug trafficking. To this end, special units of the Royal Gendarmerie will soon be created to achieve this.
According to the newspaper Al Massae, these units will be deployed in northern Morocco, particularly on the coasts, in an attempt to neutralize traffickers who no longer hesitate to use their weapons against the security forces.
The newspaper reports an incident that occurred last week in which a drug baron fired on the gendarmes to allow his nine boats to reach Spain.
To try to find him, the gendarmes had to deploy large resources, including the latest generation of helicopters equipped with high-resolution cameras, the newspaper reads, without specifying whether he was arrested or not.
