Morocco’s Car Rental Industry Rebounds with 13% Growth in 2024

The car rental sector is regaining its colors in Morocco. Shaken in recent years by successive crises, the market has seen a significant recovery in 2024, with the acquisition of more than 52,000 vehicles, an increase of 13% compared to previous years.
Faced with growing demand, car rental professionals have managed to satisfy their customers, while improving the quality of their services. According to Rachid Bouguern, Secretary General of the Federation of Car Rental Companies without Drivers in Morocco (FLASCAM), "several factors have contributed to the resilience of the car rental sector, in particular the adaptation of companies to new health standards, the improvement of online services, and the increase in local demand, especially with the resumption of business and leisure travel. In addition, attractive promotional offers have attracted a wider clientele."
For his part, Bleka Landry Mathurin, manager of the company Alim&Bleka rent car, believes that "one of the main drivers of this renaissance is undoubtedly the boom in domestic tourism." According to this professional, "domestic tourism has allowed the sector to increase the number of requests. Many foreign tourists are eager and increasingly numerous to want to visit Morocco." This influx of tourists has increased the demand for car rental services, allowing industry players to generate turnover by diversifying their offerings. "With the increase in local travel, many Moroccans are opting for car rental to explore their country, which is stimulating demand and encouraging companies to expand their fleet and diversify their services," adds Rachid Bouguern.
This upward trend is expected to continue in 2025, hopes Bleka Landry Mathurin, optimistic, recalling that the holding of the 2025 CAN in Morocco as well as other global events will contribute to boosting the sector. However, "despite the great efforts made by the authorities for the sector, it is necessary to put in place measures to protect professionals in the sector, victims of various offenses that penalize rental companies and not our customers," he says. In terms of prospects for 2025, Rachid Bouguern also expects "continued growth, provided that companies continue to innovate and adapt to customer needs. Initiatives such as improving transport infrastructure, promoting sustainable tourism, and developing partnerships with travel agencies could strengthen this positive momentum."
