Morocco on Belgium’s Red List: Travel Restrictions Complicate Return for Vacationers

While Moroccans and foreign residents in Morocco are allowed to return to the country, the question arises about the effectiveness of this return. The reason is that Belgium has placed the kingdom on the red list, the list of countries presenting health risks.
Belgium is not willing to expand its list of 31 countries to the 15 countries including Morocco that are authorized by the European Union, reports AFP. "The evaluation cell of the crisis center estimated that eight (Serbia, Thailand, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Georgia, Montenegro and Rwanda) presented health risks. There was a red light. It was therefore decided to exclude them. As for the six countries (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Uruguay) considered safe, they were not retained due to lack of reciprocity," detail the Foreign Affairs.
The same source indicates that "the national (Moroccan) airlines will schedule as many flights as necessary for the success of this operation". Ferries will also be scheduled exclusively from Sète (France) and Genoa (Italy). It remains to be seen whether Moroccans and foreign residents in Belgium will be able to return to the kingdom.
As of July 14, the official Covid-19 report shows 16,097 cases of contamination, 257 deaths, 13,442 recoveries.
