Morocco banker arrested embezzling client accounts 170000 dirhams

The executive worked at a bank branch located in the rural municipality of Aïn Cheggag. He was arrested at his workplace following complaints concerning several transactions carried out to the detriment of clients.

Two complainants were questioned by gendarmes to record their statements. The investigation subsequently revealed irregularities totaling 170,000 dirhams.

According to Assabah, the suspect is being prosecuted for breach of trust, forgery and use of forged documents, as well as fraudulent access to the bank’s computer system and malicious data modification.

Client accounts at the heart of the investigation

The charges also concern acts that may have harmed the interests of the establishment’s clients. At this stage, the exact circumstances of the disputed transactions and how the funds were allegedly diverted have not been clarified.

After his custody period, the suspect was presented to the prosecutor’s office at the court of first instance in Séfrou. The king’s prosecutor decided to pursue him in detention, considering that guarantees of appearance before justice were insufficient.
