Morocco Approves Extradition of French Cybercrime Suspect to US

The Moroccan justice system has issued a "favorable opinion" on the extradition to the United States of the Frenchman Sébastien Raoult, suspected in a cybercrime case.
The 21-year-old student was arrested in Morocco on May 31, wanted by the FBI, for having participated in the theft of nearly 200 million data on the internet, after having penetrated the computer systems of several companies around the world, including the United States.
Requested by the United States, the young Frenchman should be extradited following the favorable opinion of the Court of Cassation. The final decision is now awaited from the government side, on this procedure. The Ministers of Justice and Foreign Affairs must in turn give their opinions.
Reacting after the decision of the Moroccan justice, Me Philippe Ohayon reiterated his request for the opening of a judicial investigation in France, accompanied by a French arrest warrant to obtain the extradition of his client to France. The case is generating a lot of reaction in France, where Eric Dupont-Moretti, the French Minister of Justice, estimated that the country did not have the possibility to intervene at this stage.
