Morocco and Israel Sign Transport Agreements, Including Driver’s License Recognition

On Monday in Rabat, Morocco and Israel signed three agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of transport, including the mutual recognition of driver’s licenses, road safety and maritime transport.
A Memorandum of Understanding on the development of technical cooperation in the field of road safety and sustainable mobility was also signed by Mohamed Abdeljalil, the Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics, and Miri Regev, his Israeli counterpart. The establishment of a joint team, dealing with technological innovations in transport such as intelligent traffic, drones, and electric or autonomous cars, was also discussed.
Abdeljalil stressed that the visit of the Israeli minister to Morocco is a step forward in consolidating the cooperative relations between the two countries. The ambition, according to the Moroccan official, is to strengthen these relations during his future visit to Israel, scheduled for next September.
In addition to these agreements, the two ministers expressed their satisfaction with the rapid evolution of their relations and their desire to further develop their bilateral cooperation, discussing the development of rail transport and high-speed lines, the improvement of airport infrastructure, logistics platforms, smart mobility, and the increase in air frequencies to encourage tourism. The digitalization of transport and the encouragement of the private sector and startups to invest in this field were also discussed.
