Morocco Allows Repatriation of Stranded Belgian Citizens Amid Border Closure

Belgian Foreign Minister Philippe Goffin has confirmed that Morocco has authorized the repatriation of Belgian-Moroccans stranded in the kingdom since the closure of air borders.
"I can confirm that Belgium will be able to continue to assist in the return of Belgians on temporary stay in Morocco. Communication to this effect has been made since (Sunday) through the Belgian embassy in Morocco," said Philippe Goffin in a statement.
"This Sunday at 4:00 pm, we have already received 1,500 return requests. We will examine each of them based on predefined objective criteria with the Moroccan authorities," said the Belgian Foreign Minister.
"I take this opportunity to thank the Moroccan authorities who have agreed to derogate from the rule of non-movement of dual nationals, for specific humanitarian and social reasons, and for those who are on short-term stay in Morocco and domiciled in Belgium," he added.
