Morocco Aims to Reclaim French Tourism Market as Flights Resume

Morocco wants to reposition itself as the destination of choice for the French as soon as its airspace reopens on Monday, February 7. In this regard, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) met in Paris with French professionals from the Union of Tour Operators (SETO) and the managers of Transavia, the Air France-KLM group company and a major player in air transport to Morocco, serving more than eleven Moroccan airports.
Accompanying the imminent resumption of tourist flights to Morocco and mobilizing all partners of the Moroccan Tourist Destination for a powerful and rapid recovery. This is the purpose of this working visit to Paris. "We wanted to be by the side of our partners as soon as possible with the aim of reassuring them about the realities of a recovery that is both imminent and above all sustainable. We are very touched by the support we are receiving from French travel producers and our long-standing partnership with the professionals gathered within SETO is particularly productive," said Adel El Fakir, CEO of ONMT.
Long the number one in the top 3 of the most popular destinations for French tourists, Morocco has been overtaken by countries like Spain. During the working meeting held at Transavia’s headquarters, ONMT expressed its wish to secure significant capacity from France to the various Moroccan tourist destinations as soon as the recovery begins, in order to ensure that Morocco becomes the number one country in the company’s business portfolio at the start of the 2022 season. "It was important for us at ONMT to meet with Transavia’s managers to ensure a very short-term resumption of our full pre-Covid capacity," said Adel El Fakir.
Transavia is already announcing a significant increase in its capacity of more than 40% compared to 2019, a record year.
