Morocco Aims to Boost Local Talent in National Soccer Team, Reduce Reliance on Foreign-Based Players

The technical director (DTN) of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Chris Van Puyvelde, has outlined the strategy for the development of national football, aiming, in the long term, to have a "A" national team composed of 50% dual nationals and 50% players from the national championship, the Botola Pro.
The Moroccan national football team is currently composed of 90% of players playing abroad and 10% from the national championship, according to a statement published on the FRMF website. The technical management (DTN) wants to review this composition in the long term and integrate more players from the Botola, the national championship, into the first team.
The DTN held a session with the coaches and staff of the different categories. On this occasion, the national technical director, Chris Van Puyvelde, presented the DTN’s development strategy, emphasizing training, scouting, the regionalization plan, the regional training centers and the support of the clubs.
