Morocco Aids France in Foiling Easter Church Attack Plot, Teen Suspect Charged

Morocco helped France thwart an attack last Sunday in Béziers. The young woman of Moroccan origin who was arrested and was about to attack a church is facing French justice.
In a press release, the French anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office (PNAT) announced that L.B., the 18-year-old Moroccan woman, will be indicted after being brought before the anti-terrorist justice. After four days of being held in custody, she was presented to an investigating judge in charge of continuing the investigation for "criminal terrorist conspiracy" and "possession of incendiary or explosive products", in connection with a terrorist enterprise. L.B. is not known "to the French intelligence services", and she has never been "convicted", reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. She is a young "out-of-school" woman.
Last Sunday, the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) of France succeeded in arresting five women, including a young Moroccan woman, and thwarting an attack "in the working-class neighborhood of La Dévèze", southeast of Béziers. And this, based on the information that Morocco through the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) had provided it, on April 1, 2021. The DGST specified that a French citizen of Moroccan origin was about to carry out an imminent terrorist operation targeting a place of worship in France (church), reported the MAP.
Three sisters, including a minor, and the mother of the young woman were arrested and taken into custody. The minor’s custody was later lifted. "A printed photograph of the beheading of Samuel Paty as well as photographs representing armed jihadists" were discovered by the investigators. Handwritten notes mentioning various projects of violent action and others referring to the Islamic State group and certain Nazi symbols were also found. Products used in the composition of explosives were also discovered in the young woman’s room.
