Moroccans Lead Non-EU Nationalities in Brussels as Population Tops 1.2 Million

Moroccans come first in the ranking of non-European Union (EU) nationalities. This is revealed by the 2020 edition of "Mini-bru", a condensed and updated set of figures on Brussels.
Moroccans (34,984 people) top the top 3 of non-EU nationalities, followed by Turks (8,522) and Syrians (8,474 people) as the Mini-bru 2020 indicates that the Brussels population has exceeded the 1.2 million inhabitants mark for the first time last year.
This document, produced by the Brussels Institute of Statistics and Analysis (IBSA), indicates that the top 5 of foreign European (EU) nationalities present in Brussels remains constant compared to the previous year. Thus, the French retain the first place (64,218 nationals as of January 1, 2019), followed by Romanians (41,858), Italians (33,718), Spaniards (28,480) and Poles (23,182).
The Brussels population is on average younger than the rest of the country, with an average age of 37.5 years compared to 42.7 years in Flanders and 41.4 years in Wallonia, it is specified.
