Moroccans Lead in French Citizenship Acquisitions, Eurostat Data Shows

The 2018 Eurostat data reveal that Moroccans are by far the nationals who have obtained French nationality the most.
Moroccans are in the lead, followed by Algerians, Tunisians and Turks. Then come Malians, Senegalese, Cameroonians and Comorians. In Europe, the English are the most numerous to acquire French nationality because of Brexit.
INSEE data indicate that 113,000 foreigners were naturalized French in 2019. In total, 62% of the new French are of African origin. 20% come from Europe, 9% from Asia, 7% from America and 2% from Oceania. Among them, many young people. One third of the young people are under 15 years old, 17% are between 15 and 29 years old, 29% between 30 and 44 years old, 16% between 45 and 59 years old. The oldest new French are 60 and over and represent less than 4%.
