Moroccan Woman Critically Injured in Alleged Knife Attack by Ex-Partner in Agen

A Moroccan man was indicted and then incarcerated at the Agen prison for attempting to assassinate his former cohabitant, also of Moroccan nationality, whose "condition remains at high risk of complications." During his interrogations, he made a rather surprising statement.
The events took place on the night of Saturday to Sunday, in downtown Agen. Hicham B.H, a former bus driver of Moroccan origin, spots his former cohabitant, a 41-year-old woman, in front of a bar on the Avenue du Général-de-Gaulle, reports Sud Ouest. Under the influence of alcohol, he goes to his car, grabs a knife with a 20-centimeter blade.
"The scene is extremely violent. We see him go towards her, after having waited for her. He starts by grabbing her by the hair and bringing her to the ground, he starts to stab her (at least six injuries). She owes her salvation only to the courageous young man who intervened," recounts Monday in a press conference co-hosted with Olivier Naboulet, Anthony Lafarge, commander of the Urban Safety Brigade (BSU), in charge of the investigation, who viewed the CCTV footage seized for the investigation.
The victim, an agricultural worker who has been separated from the aggressor for at least six months, was immediately transferred to the Pellegrin hospital center in Bordeaux, where she underwent three surgical operations: cardiac, abdominal and orthopedic since she was also hit in the shoulder. "At the moment I am speaking to you, her condition remains at high risk of complications, with a positive evolution, even if it is necessary to remain cautious. She is still in the intensive care unit."
The aggressor is no stranger to misdeeds. The victim had already filed a complaint against him for domestic violence. In 2015, he had received four months of suspended prison sentence for domestic violence against another victim. After his arrest and then his custody, he was indicted for attempted murder, before being incarcerated at the Agen prison. During his interrogations, Hicham claimed "that he had drunk so much that he did not remember what had happened. He also told us that he did not intend to harm her," the Agen public prosecutor revealed.
