Moroccan Truck Driver Caught with 318 Kilos of Cannabis on French Highway

Customs agents arrested on the A7, at the level of the commune of Auberives-sur-Varèze (Isère), a 27-year-old Moroccan who was transporting 318 kilos of cannabis in a refrigerated truck from the kingdom.
The drugs were discovered by customs agents on Thursday, June 8, during a check of the refrigerated truck used to transport Moroccan peppers and beans. The driver explains to the agents that he unloaded the goods in Perpignan due to a refrigerator breakdown. But the customs officers insist on inspecting the trailer, discovering several cannabis resin blocks weighing 318 kilos and estimated to be worth 636,000 euros, reports Actu Grenoble.
Questioned by the Vienne research brigade, the 27-year-old Moroccan admitted the facts. He was sentenced on Monday by the Vienne court to two years in prison with a committal order and a fine of 636,000 euros corresponding to the estimated value of the cargo.
